Do any one of you deal with a parent that is so obsessed by the way you do things?
Like if it's not their way it's wrong?
Are you a parent like this?
I'm 31yrs old and I still have both my parents.
My dad lives in another state and my mom lives in the same town.
My mom helps me the most with my children. She watches them a lot.
She will occasionally come to my home and help around the house( which I don't mind to an extent)
But one thing she does is makes me feel bad for my house being a mess sometimes.
I'm always doing something or someone always needs me to do something and I don't always get to the chores in a timely manner.
At one point each kid had chores to do but I have stopped that due to the fighting and the loudness(my boyfriend sleeps during day for work) so I just do all chores myself because I can do them quietly and effectively with out waking him.
But I don't clean everyday and when my mom comes over to pick kids up she always has something to say about it.
She even tells people my house is disgusting.
Mind you it's lived in but not nasty. There might be kids toys on couch or floor...a piece of paper left on the floor, just simple things.
To my mother those are big deals for her.
It drives me crazy and I couldn't take much more.
I stopped letting her come over, I stopped allowing her to come help me and I got to the point where I didn't even want her to watch my kids.
I just wanna say don't feel bad like I did.
Some people don't understand depression.
Some don't understand postpartum depression.
Sometimes they don't realize you may be there kid but that don't me your made the exact same way.
Don't be afraid to get your peace and stop letting people determine your way of living just because they wouldn't do things like you do.
Just be you and don't feel obligated to things you don't want to do.
If your home is happy, kids are fed and happy and your pets are fed and happy nothing else should matter, even if it's your own mother.
They just don't understand some things and that's okay. But you don't have to explain it to anyone.
